Aifa Awards

Held at the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank during the London Indian Film Festival, the AI Film Awards showcased filmmakers from India and across the global South Asian diaspora demonstrating the use of AI in filmmaking.

The jury was chaired by the legendary Shekhar Kapur, and reading out the awards alongside him made my day - perhaps my month. Shekhar’s compassion, empathy and understanding of human behaviour are what make him such an extraordinary storyteller. His passion for making creative tools accessible to everyone is equally inspiring.

One comment from Shekhar stayed with me: “It is all about storytelling. AI is just another tool.”

The real question is not whether we use these tools, but how we use them to enrich creativity rather than replace it.
