The Almeida Theatre

Arts as a Driver of Social Change

The Almeida Theatre exists to launch the next generation of British artists onto the world stage with the central belief that theatre is an essential force in an increasingly fragmented society.

The theatre brings together the most exciting artists to take risks; to provoke, inspire and surprise audiences; to interrogate the present, dig up the past and imagine the future.

Whether new work or reinvigorated classic, the team at The Almeida makes live art to excite, enliven and entertain, both in the theatre and on the road.

  • “The Kamini and Vindi Banga Family Trust's support over the last 7 years has helped us take our award-winning programme of bold and provocative theatre from strength to strength. Their support for work by international theatre makers has played a major role in encouraging cross-cultural dialogue through theatre, harnessing the power of the Almeida stage to ask big questions of the world we live in today."

  • "As well as our artistic programme, the Trust has supported our work to nurture the next generation of theatre makers, helping us embed learning for talented early-career directors into our productions. As I come to the end of my tenure as Artistic Director, I'd like to extend my personal thanks to the Kamini and Vindi Banga Family Trust for their role in the Almeida's achievements over the past decade."
