The Story Museum, Oxford

Arts as a Driver of Social Change

The Story Museum’s vision is to enrich lives, especially young lives. We highlight the human need for stories and celebrate the many ways that people can benefit from them, including their enduring power to teach and delight.

Through imaginative exhibitions and exciting programme of performances, events, workshops, clubs and skills-building courses, the museum engages people of all ages in great stories.

Our activities are interactive, multi-sensory and designed to encourage parents, carers and children to spend time together enjoying stories in multiple different ways.

  • “The Kamini & Vindi Banga Family Trust generously supported The Story Museum to celebrate and share Indian stories as part of the museum’s capital redevelopment in 2019. This included creating two permanent exhibits dedicated to Indian oral stories in the Whispering Wood Gallery which continues to enchant visitors."

  • "The Museum has also embedded Indian storytelling in its temporary exhibitions – most recently commissioning a portrait of Sesha Naga for its Here Be Dragons exhibition - and in the events programme, working with storytellers such as Peter Chand and Sita Brahmachari to share Indian folktale through live performances and engaging workshops”
